GREEN SCREEN – The Environmental Film Series 2015

Sustain T&T is set to kick off the 2015 edition of the annual Green Screen Environmental Film Series, “together”.  The series will run from November 2-13, 2015 with free film screenings.

Green Screen was created in 2011 by Sustain T&T, an environmental and sustainability education non-profit, to bring environmental messages to the public through the medium of film.

Over the years we have screened critically acclaimed films from all corners of the globe, as well as home-grown content, including our own, at venues across the nation. This year we will premier our first full-length feature, A Better Place. The film tells the inspirational stories of five environmental projects in T&T which are funded by the UNDP’s Global Environment Fund (GEF) Small Grants Programme. A Better Place is executive produced by Sustain T&T in collaboration with T&T Rocks, and directed by Miquel Galofré.

Green Screen’s success would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, partners, collaborators and a public that is growing in its appetite for film and environmental knowledge. As such, we have chosen “together” as this year’s theme, and this is reflected in the collaborative nature of the events and projects we will present this year.

On the calendar for 2015 is our Benefit Launch at IMAX, free screenings for school children, a community screening at San Fernando Hill, free screenings open to the public at the Medulla Art Gallery, live expert panels and collaborations with the trinidad + tobago film festival, Animae Caribe and the New Fire and Bass Yard series.

Green Screen is possible with the support of the GEF Small Grants Programm implemented by the UNDP, the German Embassy Port of Spain, Atlantic, and the European Union.  Our Green Screen Partners include Animae Caribe Animation and New Media Festival, Bass Yard, CULTUREGO, Drink! Lounge and Bistro, Medulla Art Gallery, the New Fire Concert Series, North Eleven Projection and the trinidad and tobago film festival (ttff).

We invite the public to support our Green Screen Benefit Launch on Monday November 2nd 2015 at the Digicel IMAX Theatre at 6:00pm. $150 tickets are available at the Digicel IMAX Box Office and from Sustain T&T at 745-6107 /greenscreen.rsvp@gmail.com.
