Thursday 26 and Friday 27 July, 2018, 4 to 7 pm, at Alice Yard
Jamal Gerald is a performance artist based in Leeds. “My work is conversational,” he writes, “socially conscious, a celebration of individuality, and focuses on identity and lived experiences. Mostly making the type of work that I want to see. Trying to make sure that each piece I make is a different form to the one I made before.”
During a week-long residency at Alice Yard, Gerald is conducting historical research to inform a current performance work in progress.
On Thursday 26 and Friday 27 July, he will also perform a one-on-one work titled “You See…”, in which members of the public are invited to engage in a private, honest conversation with the artist inspired by Gerald’s understanding of “privilege.” To participate in one of these sessions, please email helloaliceyard@gmail.com.
All are invited.
