History

Formed in 1996 in Trinidad and Tobago, jointpop, the Rock n Roll group includes singer/songwriter Gary Hector, (Guitar ,Vocal) Damon Homer (Guitar.)Dion Camacho (Drums) Phil Hill ( Keyboard) Jerome Girdharrie (Bass). .

**From The Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago, here comes jointpop, with their ‘tough n ready’ renegade rock n roll sound.** Ken Stringfellow ( The Posies, R.E.M, Big Star )

Formed by lead singer song/writer Gary Hector in 1996 out of the debris of his old group Oddfellows Local– the seminal Caribbean rock n roll band of the 90s — jointpop was an evolutionary leap in the musical experimentation of Hector’s sound.

Formed with some of the most sensitive musicians of T&T’s underground circuit and marshaled by Hector’s brilliant piercing social commentary rock and roll songs, the band quickly became the benchmark of the brilliant local alternative music scene with music and songs that had a ready international appeal without sacrificing any of its local relevance.

The secret is the fact that Gary Hector is one of the greatest songwriters that the Caribbean has produced, and is one of its best kept secrets. Apart from this, Hector has always shown a very un-Trinidadian penchant for recording albums. The testament is a collection of six albums which constitute the best produced discography of any Trinidad and Tobago act of the last 20 years.

A 2014 jointpop album called “ QUICKSAND “, to be produced by John Ashton of Legendary UK band, The Psychedelic Furs.

The live jointpop experience has been seen by fans in the USA and UK ( 3 tours) with gigs at legendary venues such as, CBGB’S ( NYC), 100 Club, The Dublin Castle, Hope and Anchor (London) and The Hootananny ( Inverness, Scotland).

Famous UK Radio DJ’s Tom Robinson (BBC , London) and Jim Gellatly ( XFM,BBC,Scotland) are longtime fans and supporters of jointpop.

• 2004 jointpop 5 song EP The lead track, Let’s Pray for Rock n Roll, topped local online Radio charts and the EP includes jointpop classics Radio Luxembourg, The Water Supreme, Voodoo vs. Voodoo and Monsta Me
• 2002 exile, baby The local entertainment press had a ball with this record. Radio play for tracks I Hate Entertainment, exile, baby, La Belle Rosette and The New Fast Food saw jointpop gain a wider audience base. An animated video for The New Fast Food broke new ground.
• 1999 Port of Spain Style Critically acclaimed in its homeland TnT with heavy radio rotation for tracks After 1/2 Past Nine plus video, Urgent plus video, King Radio and Lost in Space. Sold extremely well in TnT and independently in New York and Miami.
