FEB. 9-23/ “BLOKO”…a carnival art exhibition

“Bloko” is a play on a word that’s associated with a carnival party within a community. Here, were are also associating it with the shapes your incredible works of art will be created on or within.

Submissions are invited to an exciting Carnival Art Exhibition. Artists are encouraged to work within a Carnival theme and should be as creative as possible. This exhibition is open to all practitioners of the Carnival Arts: Would love submissions to also include: Papier Mache, Wire Bending, Cane, Plastic Moulds, Photography, Masks, Traditional Carnival Character Costumes etc. in addition to painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics and other traditional genres.

What you need to know

• Artists can submit a maximum of two pieces, not exceeding 2376 square inches
• Canvas wraps can be square or rectangular and media must be done on all sides.
• Do NOT frame any of the works being submitted. It’s all about the Block, thus the name “Bloko”
• All works being submitted are subject to a $50.00 (Non-refundable) submission fee
• All works of art must reflect a carnival theme.
• Canvas wraps are available for purchase from Arnims on Saddle Road, Maraval in a variety of sizes… Custom blocks can also be requested
• Practitioners of the Carnival Arts are especially welcomed to submit works. This may include: Wire Bending, Sculpture, Papier Mache, Plastic Moulds, Tradtional Mas Costumes and other Objects d’Art related to carnival.
• A 25% Sales Commission will be deducted from works sold.
• All unsold works must be collected on either Sunday 22nd February or Monday 23rd February between 10am-5pm
• Artists will be required to provide “High Res” Images of their work accompanied by one paragraph introducing the artist and another paragraph speaking about the work. No more than one paragraph each. If Photography is needed by Ilka, please make arrangements to have this done prior to our submission day.
