Natalia Dopwell and the Dominant 7th Calypso Jazz Band led by Rellon Brown

10356266_693803474039898_6806820582066213084_nAudiences are in for a treat at the Little Carib Theatre, as Natalia Dopwell and the Dominant Seventh Calypso Jazz Band unite to present ‘On a Lighter Note’ for three nights only from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th October 2014.

Already beloved for her exciting operatic and classical music performances, Natalia Dopwell will perform all your favorite jazz standards like ‘Embracable You’ and ‘Goody Goody’ as well as light classics such as ‘Summertime’ and ‘The Italian Street Song’. An award winning soprano, Natalia most recently represented Trinidad at the 2012 Competition and Festival of Lyrical Song held annually in Peru, and came away with theprize for Second Place. She still holds the distinction of being the youngest person to be adjudged the Most Outstanding Performer of Trinidad Music Festival (2004). She holds a Bachelors degree in vocal performance from Manhattan School of Music and is currently the Creative Director of the Classical Music Development Foundation of T&T.

The Dominant Seventh Calypso Jazz Band performs highly innovative and creative original music under the direction of music lecturer and trumpeter Rellon Brown. At the request of the late Ainsley Mark of the QRC Foundation, they debuted at the ‘Steelpan and Jazz Festival’ in 2005. Now operating out of The Musical Arts Department of the University of the West Indies, Dominant Seventh continues to perform highly innovative and eative original music most recently with a rousing performance at the “Java and Jazz” concert in south Trinidad.

Due to the Little Carib’s intimate setting, tickets are limited, so be sure to secure yours early.
