The Art Society of Trinidad and Tobago has partnered with the German Embassy to present to you a screening of The Ape and I Jorg Immendorff = Der Affe und Ich!
The film, directed by Rainer Ostendorf, shows Immendorff over a period of several weeks working on the large-scale picture “The Lehmbruck Saga”. The works of Immendorff, one of Joseph Beuys’ pupils, are strongly referring to German reality to which he takes a critical approach.
About Jorg Immendorff:
Jörg Immendorff is one of the best known contemporary German artists – and one of the most political. Studying under Joseph Beuys at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art, his entire collection of work centers on one question: What role can art play when dealing with society’s conflicts? Immendorff has always become involved; always sought ways of confronting society’s traditional values and norms.
